Namaste. I am a writer, storyteller, and Goa kid (that's me, top row, centre) and I am working on a documentary about Goa's original community to be filmed in Goa this season.
Together with one of Australia's finest filmmakers, Aviva Ziegler, I started working on this documentary in 2006 - then a story about Goa kids. Meanwhile I had two children of my own and was otherwise occupied. But as I watched more and more old Goa friends reconnecting on facebook, sharing old pictures and once again forming a global community, culminating in a reunion taking place in Goa in January 2010 - we jumped at the chance to tell the story now!
Aviva and I joined up with a burgeoning, but small, independent production company called Australian Documentaries. Together we submitted a proposal for funding to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (or ABC, non-commercial TV) to make a prime-time, one-hour documentary about the original Goa hippy community, the kids that came out of it, and the intervening years.
I have wanted to do this for years and am very excited by the prospect, and the team! If you have an interesting story to tell, photos to share or you just want to know more about the project, send me an email to: oryana@oryanaangel.com
